Transformations Retreat

Transform yourself.

Transform society.

For incoming first-year students, we are pleased to offer the Transformations retreat - a program designed to help students get involved on campus, meet other student leaders, and foster development of their leadership skills. This overnight event is hosted by a team of professional staff, guest speakers, and upper class student leaders, featuring workshops and team-building challenges. The Transformations retreat takes place off-campus at one of New England's finest camp facilities each September. Participants will experience various outdoor team-building exercises using water sports, ropes course equipment, and portable adventure equipment. A "Challenge by Choice" philosophy is utilized to encourage development at one's own pace.

Transformations applications are provided to all first-year students during Summer Orientation and will be sent home to those students scheduled to attend the Fall Orientation program.  Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The deadline for all applications and scholarship materials is August 1, 2008.

Setting Sail

Setting Sail is a workshop series designed to lead campus organizations in the right direction for a successful year. Workshops are held weekly during the first month of the academic year. Session topics include event planning, budgeting, organizational, management, motivation, and much more.

This program is co-sponsored as part of the National Alumni Association’s “Life After College” series.

Charting the Course

This new series, developed with first-year students in mind, covers a variety of topics designed to help students acclimate themselves to campus life and find success both in and outside the classroom. Workshops are held weekly during the fall semester. Possible session topics include involvement, civic engagement, wellness, time management, networking, and cultural awareness. At the end of the program, participants have the opportunity to get involved with a civic engagement initiative sponsored by Dirigo, Providence College’s leadership honor society.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the SAIL Office, at 401-865-2211, or via e-mail at sail@providence.edu.
