Greetings from the Office of Student Activities–Involvement–Leadership (SAIL)!

            It is our pleasure to bring you this year’s SAIL Digest.  The SAIL Digest features a weekly listing of campus events and important student announcements.  This is a wonderful place to keep you in touch with campus activities!  The SAIL Digest will be sent out every Wednesday.  If your club or organization would like to post an event in the SAIL Digest, please email your submissions by NOON each WEDNESDAY via email to sail@providence.edu.

THANKSGIVING AIRPORT SHUTTLE

The SAIL Office is pleased to provide transportation to TF Green Airport on Tuesday, November 24th. The cost is $5.oo per person. Ticket sales are on a first-come, first-serve basis and are available now in the SAIL Office (Slavin 104). Feel free to stop in Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm to purchase your ticket. Shuttles will be departing from the rear of Raymond Hall as follows: 10am, 11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm.

Martha Lucia Giraldo Villano from Cauca, Columbia and Witness for Peace will be coming to speak at Providence College about killings and human rights in Columbia. Such topics include: Extrajudicial Executions and “false positives”, Plan Columbia, Impunity, The National Movement of Victims and the Importance of memory. PROVIDENCE COLLEGE ART EXHIBITS

Jea: Continuing Existence Through Transformation, Images by Eric E. Sung

Eric E. Sung, Photography professor at Providence College, exhibits an inspiring  series of photographs that combine images of ritual in both urban and natural settings. This exhibit will take place in Reilly Gallery in the Smith Center for the Arts from 11am to 4pm Monday through Friday until December 4th. Sponsored by the Department of Art & Art History.

 

Off the Fence by Jeanne Williamson

Jeanne Williamson's mixed media work incorporates the grids of orange construction fences. Working in a few different series, her  use of paint includes printing, painting and hand stamping on both sides of one piece of fabric, before stitching the fabric to highlight different lines and patterns. This exhibit will take place in the Hunt-Cavanagh Gallery in Hunt-Cavanaugh (East Campus) from 9am-4pm  Monday through Friday until December 4th. Sponsored by the Department of Art & Art History.

VERITAS COMMUNITIES FOR FRESHMEN

Hey 2013! Want to make sharing and growing in faith a regular part of your life at PC? Join a Veritas Community! These are small groups of students who meet once a week to hang out, pray, discuss matters of faith, and learn how to better serve God and neighbor. This year we have two communities specifically for freshmen!

Both groups meet in the Campus Ministry Center for about an hour, and they would love to have you! Sponsored by Campus Ministry.

 

KENNEDY PLAZA CONSTRUCTION

Kennedy Plaza and surrounding areas will undergo a major repaving project that will begin on Saturday October 31, 2009 and completed on Friday November 26, 2009. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has provided the public, Peter Pan/Bonanza and Greyhound Bus Lines with relocation maps identifying the temporary pickup and drop off areas. Peter Pan/Bonanza and Greyhound Bus Lines have been temporally relocated to pickup and drop off passengers in front of the Westin Hotel on Exchange Terrace in downtown Providence. The existing Kennedy Plaza agency will remain open during this construction period to purchase tickets and/or schedule information. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SERVICE

Are you interested in service? Could you use some assistance with college expenses? AQUA-FITNESS CLASSES

Looking for a low impact high intensity cardio way to exercise?  Deep water gym workouts are designed to work multiple muscle groups while toning and strengthening.  Classes are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:30am. Buoyancy belts and instruction provided. Space is limited and you must be a member of the fitness center. Sponsored by Health Education and Wellness.
