Cookout
5:00pm, East Campus Quad (Rain Location: Peterson Field House)
An evening cookout for the entire campus community. The cookout will include the “Silent Witness” installation: a collection of life-sized silhouettes of domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Literature will be available from student volunteers, as well as Project SAVE T-shirts.

The Yellow Dress

A one-woman play that centers on dating violence and sexual assault. The play is produced by Deanna’s Fund, an organization committed to promoting healthy relationships through educational programs. A general discussion will conclude the performance, followed by refreshments.

Pop Culture: Sexual Assault, Who’s At Fault?

Members of S.A.R.T., the Sexual Assault Response Team, will present information on sexual assault and domestic violence within the context of the prevailing and influential attitudes of pop culture. The format will be an open forum in which all members of the campus community are invited to attend.

Guest Presenter: Keith Labelle, Coordinator of the Violence Prevention & Advocacy Services Program at the University of Rhode Island.
Participants will be engaged in an interactive program incorporating a non-antagonistic, humorous approach, to learn about the dangers of sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and date rape drugs. Refreshments will be served.

Healthy Relationships Resource Fair

The fair will offer information and resources from on- and off-campus resources, including S.A.R.T., the Sojourner House, STEP 1, Women’s Studies, Women Will, Safety & Security, Personal Counseling Center, Day One and the Women’s Center of RI.

Expert speakers with law enforcement and martial arts training will lead discussions on safety and awareness followed by a demonstration of basic self-defense strategy. Learn quick effective methods of threat-neutralization and protection.

Take Back the Night

Sponsored by Women Will, this powerful event is centered around an open microphone time that allows victims and friends to come forward to share experiences. Personal Counseling Center, Campus Ministry and S.A.R.T. personnel will be available on-site. Take Back the Night concludes with a candlelight walk to St. Dominic’s Chapel. All are invited to attend, and are encouraged to dress warmly.

An installation and display of t-shirts from victims of sexual assault. Colored t-shirts reflect the type of violence experienced by victims and provide support; the display illustrates the impact of sexual assault and violence in the community.
