Behavioral Expectations

As stated in the Student Handbook, "It is essential to the life of Providence College, as a Catholic academic community, that its members understand and respect the rights of the individuals and institutions which constitute the community.  Only through the acceptance of the responsibility to protect the rights of others can its members create an atmosphere in which teaching, learning, and the exchange of ideas will flourish."

In order for you to enjoy your orientation program and to gain the maximum benefits from that experience, it is imperative that you comply with the following regulations during your orientation visit:

  1. No alcoholic beverages or other drug use is permitted.  The college alcohol policy will be strictly enforced.
  2. Attendance at all orientation sessions is mandatory.  Students are expected to be on time for all programs and events.
  3. Students are required to remain on campus during orientation.  In cases of emergency, requests to leave campus must be approved by the Director of Orientation.
  4. Students must adhere to the visitation hours in the residence halls, which are enforced to protect privacy.  Visitation ends at midnight during each night of Orientation.  Males are not allowed in Meagher Hall, and females are not allowed in McDermott Hall after this time.

Failure to comply with these regulations may result in termination of your involvement in the Orientation program and referral to the Office of Judicial Affairs.  Serious violations may involve sanctions that will carry over into your first year at Providence College.
