2008-2009 HOUSING SELECTION
For the Members of the Class of 2011
The Office of Residence Life is pleased to announce that the housing selection for the 2008-2009 academic year will take place on March 17, 2008 in the Aquinas Hall Lounge. In order for members of the Class of 2011 to participate in the 2008-2009 traditional hall housing selection process, their financial account must not have an outstanding balance AND a $200 non-refundable deposit must be submitted in person to the Financial Services/Student Accounts Office no later than Thursday, March 6, 2008. Deposits will only be accepted in the form of cash, money order, or check made payable to Providence College . The white copy of the housing deposit receipt must be delivered to the Office of Residence Life by March 6, 2008 at 4:00 p.m.
In addition to the traditional residence halls, a limited number of suites and apartments will be available to the Class of 2011. The suites and apartments will be randomly assigned through an application process. Please refer to the 2008-2009 Suite and Apartment Application for more information. If a group is not selected for a suite or apartment, they will be required to reside in the traditional halls. Any student who does not reserve a room on March 17th will be assigned by the Dean of Residence Life or his designee.
*The College requires all freshman and sophomore students to reside on campus.
*Students will be randomly assigned a housing selection time (delivered to student mailboxes).
*The Office of Residence Life will not allow room changes until October 15, 2008.
IMPORTANT DATES
February 19 & 20, 2008:
Housing selection information sessions (Aquinas Lounge at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.)
March 6, 2008:
Last day to submit $200.00 housing deposit to the Student Accounts Office located in Harkins Hall rm. 400. Note: Once the deposit is made the receipt must be hand delivered by the student to the Office of Residence Life, St. Joseph Hall rm.110, no later than March 6, 2008 by 4:00pm.
Last day to submit the Suite/Apartment Application to the Office of Residence Life.
March 13, 2008:
Each student who has submitted a deposit receipt to the Office of Residence Life by the March 6th deadline will be randomly assigned a time for housing selection. A white housing selection card with a housing time and date will be sent to his/her mailbox. The white card listing the time and date will represent the student’s ability to be an active participant in the housing selection process.
March 17, 2008:
Students will report to the Aquinas Hall Lounge at their assigned time for room selection with their desired group of roommates. Note that a “group” is defined as a complete room where all beds in the room will be reserved (examples provided below). Each member of the group must present their PC I.D. and white housing selection card in order to reserve a room.
Reminder: If a member of a group cannot attend the selection process at the assigned time, the attending members must present the PC I.D. and white card of the absent member.
Students will be able to choose from the available selection of rooms at their assigned time (or organized group’s “best” assigned time). Examples of possible options (based on availability): 1 student per single room, a group of 2 students per double room, a group of 3 students per triple room, and a group of 4 students per quad room.
Note: Students who voluntarily overcrowd a room will not be entitled to a rebate.
A sign up list will be available in the Office of Residence Life for students looking for roommates.
March 18, 2008:
Students who either chose not to select a room or were unable to find the sufficient number of roommates will be assigned a room and roommates by the Office of Residence Life.
May 1 – August 15, 2008:
Incoming freshmen and transfer students will be assigned rooms and roommates by the Office of Residence Life.
