 Guest Registration

Providence College ’s visitation policy and guest registration policy is formulated in the desire to create and maintain an environment that contributes to the living and learning opportunities for students residing in residence facilities. The policy is anchored in a concern for the safety, security, and privacy needs of students, and it is shaped by the Catholic and Dominican mission of the College. Furthermore, the guest registration policy can provide valuable information to the College in times of emergencies.

Any non-PC student on campus between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. must be registered through the online Guest Registration Form at least 48 hours prior to a visit

The registration form may be accessed at: http://internal.providence.edu/guestreg/requestform_login.htm

Registered guests must be 17 years of age or older. Guests may be approved to visit campus for a maximum of 3 days and 2 nights. Students are permitted to host a maximum of two guests during any single period of stay.

Guests of traditional hall residents are required to reside in same-gender residence halls when staying on campus overnight. Student-hosts are responsible for finding appropriate housing in a residence hall, suite, or apartment for their opposite-gender overnight guests. Apartment and suite residents may host a guest of the opposite gender in accordance with apartment and suite visitation guidelines. The behavior of the guest is the responsibility of the host student and the guest is required to be with the host student at all times.  The only exception to this is when the guest is staying overnight and is the opposite gender of the host.  In this case, the pre-arranged sponsor host assumes all responsibilities for the guest outside of visitation hours.  Resident students may be subject to the College’s disciplinary procedures if their guests do not behave appropriately; therefore, it is the host student’s responsibility to educate his/her guest as to the proper expectations of conduct as described and contained in the Providence College Student Handbook .

Visitation hours for guests of the opposite sex begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m. (midnight ) Sundays through Thursdays. On Fridays and Saturdays, visitation hours begin at 10:00 a.m. and extend to 2:00 a.m. Visitation hours during reading period, exams, holidays, and break periods end at midnight . Hours, rules and procedures may be changed from time to time by the Office of Residence Life.

In order to register your guest, you must use your assigned Providence College e-mail address. All responses to requests will be made 24 hours on the next business day. Students who do not receive a response within that time should contact their hall director, or apartment/suite director.

Once a student has been granted permission to host a guest through the online process, it is incumbent on the host student to print the guest pass. This pass must be in possession of the student’s guest at all times during his/her visit to the campus.

If a guest is bringing a vehicle to campus, the host student must accompany his/her guest to the Office of Safety and Security in order to request a guest parking permit (limited availability).

Note: Students will not be permitted to register or host guests during specified weekends or high-risk time periods at the discretion of the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs Administration. These time frames will be announced in advance.

All inquiries concerning denial of guest visitation should be made directly to the Dean of Residence Life or his designee. Questions regarding the Guest Registration Policy or procedures should be directed to the Office of Residence Life
