The Feinstein Institute for Public Service offers community service learning opportunities that prepare students to be thoughtful, productive citizens in the world and allow them to appreciate and make positive contributions in the larger community.

The Feinstein Institute invites you to “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Mahatma Gandhi

  • Off-Campus Work Study – Students who are awarded federal work-study can work at nonprofit organizations throughout the community and receive pay through the federal government.  
  • Internships – Students are able to find internships within the Providence and RI community for school credit as well as academic advancement.
  • Alternative Spring Breaks – Over spring break, students have the opportunity to travel to various locations and participate in service projects grounded in learning about and assisting diverse communities.
  • AmeriCorps Scholarships for Service – Students volunteer 300 hours within a year at a community organization in exchange for a $1000 education stipend offered through Corporation for National and Community Service.
  • Raise Your Voice Campaign – Campus Compact awards grants for a civically-engaged project that raises awareness of social justice issues within the campus community.
  • Service Learning Courses – The Department of Public and Community Service Studies, offers academic courses that enhance classroom learning by assisting local organizations. Reflection is stressed in the classroom so that students understand, critically analyze and draw conclusions about community, service, diversity and democratic citizenship.
