As social workers and social work educators, we are committed to scholarship and research that will contribute to the advancement of social work knowledge, practice, and teaching. Current areas of individual and collaborative faculty research are related to social work values and ethics and ethical decision making, international social work, attachment security and prosociability in 3, 4, and 5 year olds in daycare, relationships between mental representations of social workers and their practice effectiveness, building cultural competence, and social justice and democratic processes.

We are also committed to the development of your ability to contribute to social work knowledge. Faculty help you to develop your ability to contribute to the knowledge base of social work through collaborative research and individual research projects undertaken by each student in the senior capstone seminar. This past fall two students and their research advisor presented findings of their investigation of service delivery and recidivism of DCYF clients indicated for neglect at a national professional social work conference held in Los Angeles, CA.
