Social Work Licensure

All fifty states have social work licensure or certification laws. These laws are designed to protect the public, ensuring that those calling themselves social workers are trained and competent. Each jurisdiction defines by law what is required for each level of social work licensure. Baccalaureate and master’s degrees must be obtained from programs of social work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE).
