Social Work
May you be the change you would
like to see in the world.

Gandhi

The profession of social work is concerned with fostering the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities and with social justice. It is a profession that emphasizes making a difference in the
world in which we live through service and leadership.

Social Work is the only undergraduate major that prepares you for immediate entry into direct human service professional positions--ready to excel in the work and ready to undertake graduate work in social work.

The program in Social Work at Providence College is recognized by employers for providing exceptional education in social work. The superior academic preparation provided by our program leads to the possibility of advanced placement in graduate schools of Social Work.

The major, nationally accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), combines classroom learning and professionally supervised internships during which you are involved with the actual practice of social work, preparing you with the knowledge and skills needed to function competently and effectively in a professional helping capacity with individuals, families, groups, and communities.

Upholding our educational promise to students means that the focus is on you.  You will have direct access to faculty who know you by name and are interested in your goals and aspirations.
