Your Guide to Applying and Getting Started

Talk with an Adviser

  • Find out which program best meets your goals
  • Ask whether college credits that you earned elsewhere  count toward PC degree requirements
  • Learn about other ways to earn college credit, such as CLEP and credit for life/work experience

Applying for Admission

NOTE: You must be fully admitted into a program before financial aid can be awarded. For further information, contact PC's Office of Financial Aid at finaid@providence.edu or 401-865-2286.

After You Are Accepted

  • Return your Admission Confirmation Form (included with your acceptance letter).
  • Meet with an Academic Adviser who will help you choose your classes and develop a degree completion plan, which will lay out  the classes needed to complete your degree. Daytime and evening appointments are available. Call 401-865-2487 or email sce@providence.edu
  • Register for Classes
    • Review registration dates and choose classes from the online schedule.
    • Download and complete the registration form and payment form. Please note that payment is due at the time of registration. If you have already received your nine-digit CyberFriar/Banner ID number and PIN by mail, you may register and pay online by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or by check. If you have any difficulty with registration, or did not receive your CyberFriar/Banner ID and PIN, please call us at 401-865-2487.

After You Register

  • Purchase or rent your textbooks online.
  • Join us for a New Student Orientation session held on campus prior to fall and spring semesters.
  • Obtain your Student ID Card from the SCE Office, which you’ll need in order to get your parking sticker and library card.  On your first trip to the Phillips Memorial Library, take your SCE card to the reference desk to have a barcode added, so you can access Library resources in person and online.
  • Go to the Office of Safety & Security for your Parking Sticker. Bring your driver’s license, Student ID, and proof of insurance.
  • Check your College Email regularly. All new SCE students are mailed a letter with their account information for email, CyberFriar, Angel, and the campus computer network. College email is our official form of communication with you, so it is very important that you read the messages sent to your account. If you have not received this information, contact the SCE office: 401-865-2487.
