For Students, totes for CANS AND BOTTLES are located in the trash rooms on your residence hall floors.  For Faculty and Staff, there are common area recycling containers set up in every academic and administrative building.  For a complete list of recycling container locations, please visit "Administrative and Classroom Buildings" under Campus Recycling


The Providence College Recycling Program accepts the following items in all containers and totes marked Bottles/Cans Only:

  • Aluminum and Tin Cans
  • Glass Bottles
  • Plastic Bottles
  • Plastic Milk and Juice Containers

Examples of such items include soda and beer cans, tomato sauce jars, salad dressing bottles, laundry detergent bottles, plastic soda bottles, water bottles, etc.

Please rinse items before placing them in recycling containers.
Also, no caps!  Please take them off the bottles or jars and throw them away!

The following items are considered trash and should not be placed in recycling containers, but in the trash barrels:

  • Plastic tubs (these include yogurt containers, cottage cheese containers, margarine tubs, plastic tofu trays, etc.)
  • Cartons (these include the wax-coated juice and milk cartons, such as orange juice containers)
  • Ceramic or glass dishware and mugs
