• Longo '96 Chosen as Early Career Research Award Recipient
  Dr. Nicholas V. Longo '96, assistant professor of public and community service studies and director of the Global Studies Program, has been named the 2009 recipient of the Early Career Research Award given by the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement. more
• Sister Dianne Bergant Named Providence College Randall Professor
  Sister Dianne Bergant, C.S.A., a professor of biblical studies at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, has been named the 2009-10 Rev. Robert J. Randall Distinguished Professor in Christian Culture at Providence College. Her first lecture, "A Woman as a Theologian in the Church Today," will be held on September 29 at 4:00 p.m. more
• Convocation Speaker Underscores Impact of a Liberal Arts Education
  Emphasizing that the point of a liberal arts education is "to enrich and liberate the student-learner," Dr. Robert P. George, J.D., a Princeton University scholar on constitutional law and a champion of human rights, delivered the principal address at Providence College's Academic Convocation on September 16. more

• First St. Dominic Weekend to Spotlight Benefactors
  The Office of Institutional Advancement will host Providence College's most generous and dedicated benefactors on campus for the first annual St. Dominic Weekend on October 2 and 3. more 

• Dr. Deborah P. Goessling, associate professor of education, was profiled in two recent media stories. The first, "ALS Patient turns to MDA for Help," was a television feature aired on August 31 on WCVB-TV in Boston. The second, "These college lessons will be learned in a personal way," appeared in the September 6 edition of The Providence Journal.

• Providence Basketball to Tip Off Season at Late Night Madness
  The 2009-10 college basketball season will open on Friday, October 16, at Providence College's annual Late Night Madness event in Alumni Hall. more

There are 120 Providence College students who serve as Admission Ambassadors. Ambassador responsibilities include hosting prospective students as part of the Day Visit Program, speaking about their PC experiences at group information sessions, and greeting prospective families in the Office of Admission reception area in Harkins Hall.
