John M. Marinatto '79, who served as athletic director at Providence College from 1987 to 2001, was named commissioner of The BIG EAST Conference on November 12. The conference's senior associate commissioner since 2002, Marinatto will assume his new duties on July 1, 2009. more

Six students and one faculty member created a mural that was displayed on Election Day on the Slavin Center wall. more

Craig M. Jordan '68 of South Windsor, Conn., was interviewed for a story that ran in the October 16 edition of the East Hartford Gazette. The story, "Vietnam traveling wall brings flood of memories," focused on Jordan's military service and his efforts to bring a replica of the Washington, D.C., memorial to East Hartford.

Thirty-four members of Providence College's Class of 2009 recently were named to the 2009 edition of "Who's Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges." The publication lists students from around the nation, the District of Columbia, and several foreign countries who are considered outstanding campus leaders. Students are nominated by campus nominating committees and selected on the basis of their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities, and potential for continued success.
