Mission Statement

Why Study Abroad?

  • For more than thirty-five years, Providence College has encouraged qualified students to consider the advantages of study abroad.  Committed to offering our students a comprehensive opportunity for a truly liberal education, the Center for International Studies extends an invitation to all interested first-year and sophomore students to explore the possibilities for enriching their undergraduate education through a junior year study abroad experience.
  • Participating in an international study program may enhance your career prospects, enable you to gain a new understanding of yourself and the world, and provide an unparalleled opportunity to learn another language.

  • Combining an academic program with living in another country broadens one's knowledge about social, political, cultural, economic, educational and international issues. Learning about another culture helps you gain another perspective from which to view your own and other societies.

  • Study abroad also enhances your employment prospects. On your resume, the study abroad experience shows employers that you have cross-cultural skills, are adaptable to change, independent, open-minded, intelligent and capable of responding to challenges.
