College International de Cannes, France, AIFS

American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS)

Cannes, France
Perched on the Mediterranean shoreline, Cannes is a sunny, former fishing village turned international resort with 75,000 inhabitants. A popular destination, the Riviera including St. Tropez, Antibes and Monaco, boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in France. Dazzling white villas, deep magenta bougainvillea, dusky olive trees and yellow mimosa blossoms ring a perfect blue sea. Renowned for its artistic community and its international festivals, Cannes combines the cosmopolitan aura of a small city with the relaxed attitude of a seaside resort. Besides the international film festival, Cannes hosts other festivals including classical music, media, guitar, café-theater, fireworks, dancing and puppetry.

Cannes draws students of the arts from around the world with its École Internationale d’Acteurs, Municipal Conservatory, École Internationale de Danse, Multimedia Center and museums. Stroll along the promenade de la Croisette, stop at an open-air café or shop along palm-lined boulevards, swim in the Mediterranean or take a short bus ride to the red-clay mountains of the Corniche d’Esterel. Cannes has something to offer everyone

Collège International de Cannes

Founded in 1931 by the poet and philosopher Paul Valéry, the Collège International de Cannes is a private institution of higher learning that draws students from around the world. The Collège was founded on the principles of international harmony and tolerance, with the express purpose of introducing foreign students to French language and culture. The Collège has trained hundreds of students to enter the French university system. Its initiatives with the local community ensure your study of French is not confined to the campus. The Collège is a supportive place for anyone interested in learning another language or being introduced to a new culture.

The campus has modern facilities with 22 classrooms, audio visual equipment, a language lab, Internet access (for an additional fee), library and theater/cinema/conference hall. It is situated on spacious grounds with views of the sea and is within walking distance of the Old Port and city center. The campus has its own laundry and parking facilities. The Collège has a café bar with an open-air terrace, gym, large residence hall and courtyard where students gather under palm trees and pines. Valuables such as cash, travelers’ checks and passports can be stored in the Collège safe.

The Collège offers diplomas issued by the Ministry of Education, Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie and certificates in elementary and advanced language qualifications, including the Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française and Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (DELF/DALF diplomas). The University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis has approximately 80 full-time French students studying journalism at the Collège International de Cannes.
