PC Festival Band for High School Students
Patricia Wurst Cichy, Ph.D.

Patricia Wurst Cichy, Ph.D., assistant professor of music at Providence College , holds B.M. and M.M. degrees in Oboe Performance from Manhattan School of Music, and a Ph.D. in Oboe Performance from New York University .  Oboe studies were with Harold Gomberg, Jerome Roth, Daniel Stolper and Sara Funkhouser.  Along with her oboe studies, Dr. Cichy studied music education, and holds a Dalcroze, Orff, Kodaly Certificate from Manhattan School of Music.  Other music education studies were at Manhattan School of Music, New York University, and Bank Street School of Education.

At Providence College , Dr. Cichy teaches ear training and oboe, music education courses, and coaches chamber music.  She also advises the Collegiate MENC chapter.  Dr. Cichy has taught Early Childhood Music at The Dalton School in New York City , and Middle and High School Band in Central Iowa .  A frequent workshop clinician in various areas of the country, she has previously taught oboe and music education at the University of Rhode Island , instrumental music and music appreciation at Des Moines Area Community College , music education at Iowa State University , and music education at Northern Illinois University .

Dr. Cichy has designed and written educational material for Great Works Publishing Company, and was elected to serve on its Board of Directors.  Currently a member of the College Music Society, International Double Reed Society, Music Educators National Conference, and Rhode Island Music Educators Association (where she currently serves as President), Dr. Cichy has previously served in elected positions with the Iowa Music Educators Association, Rhode Island Music Educators Association, Illinois Music Educators Association, and the New England Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
