Loriana De Crescenzo, B.Mus.

Loriana De Crescenzo is the Executive Director of Opera Providence and is Project Director for OPERAtunity education and outreach programs.  She provides exciting leadership, which will guarantee the stability and lasting future of opera in Rhode Island  .   Her development and direction of the OPERAtunity education and outreach programs over the last four years have brought national and local recognition to Opera Providence. Ms. De Crescenzo also teaches at Providence College on the Voice faculty in the Music Department. 

An accomplished soprano, Ms. De Crescenzo was recently heard in productions of Opera Providence, (formerly Ocean State Lyric Opera), including Champagne & Bubbles, July 2004 summer concerts Opera on the Hill, June 2004 performance of Opera2Broadway as well as the PPAC Fleet Arts Showcase Opera2Broadway performance on October 14, 2004.  Also with Opera Providence Ms. De Crescenzo has appeared as Kate Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly and as soloist in Music & Mistletoe Holiday Concerts and That's Amore Valentine Concerts. Other performances include Newport Mansions Christmas in Newport at The Elms; A Celebration of Rome at RISD Museum ; and special performances at the Providence Art Club, Linden Place in Bristol and many other gala events.

Ms. De Crescenzo has been heard in the leading soprano roles: Violetta, Micaela, Pamina, Musetta, Mimi, Gilda, Zerlina and Donna Elvira with the Amato Opera , New York Grand Opera, and Brooklyn Lyric Opera. Other operetta/ musical theater roles include: Rosalinda, Lady Psyche, Amalia and Laurey with the Ocean State Lyric Opera, Opera Ensemble of New York, and Hartt Opera/Theater Productions. She has been a feastured soloist with local orchestras including "A Cole Porter Celebration" with The Hartford Symphony.

Ms. De Crescenzo a B.Mus. from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford . Advanced vocal studies include programs at Juilliard School of Music, Manhattan School of Music Vocal Arts Institute, and Mannes School of Music, where she worked with esteemed teachers Nico Castel, Bidu Sayao, Martha Schlamme, Licia Albanese, Vincent La Selva and Lou Galterio. In Italy , Ms. De Crescenzo studied with legendary Toscanini baritone Giuseppe Valdengo and was a frequent soloist in Torino with Coro Handel, Coro Vivaldi and at other major concert events. Maestro Gioele Muglialdo guided her in advanced operatic role preparation in Torino . Ms. De Crescenzo was finalist in Il Concorso Santa Margherita di Ligure and critically acclaimed in the Concerto Finale.

Ms. De Crescenzo is also an experienced performing arts and music educator and maintains a professional voice studio.  Since 1995 she has worked with children ages pre K - grade 12 and adults of all ages, educating them with innovative programming about opera and the fine arts. Always seeking opportunities to connect with arts education colleagues and advance her professional development, she participates and serves on the advisory panels for leading arts initiatives
