PC Festival Band for High School Students
Kevin Kane, M.A.T.

A life-long resident of Rhode Island, Kevin Kane received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and Master of Arts in Teaching in Music from Rhode Island College. He taught for 30 years in the Scituate, RI school system where he was High School amd Middle School Choir Director for 25 years along with other instrumental and theory classes in grades 4-12. His school ensembles have won many awards and excellent ratings at regional, national and international festivals.

He has served as RIACDA High School R&S Chair, Membership Chair, President-Elect, President, Vice-President, and (currently)Treasurer. He has or is serving on three convention committees (1998, 2000, and 2006) as Local Arrangement Chair, Publicity and Student Workers Chair,  and Reading Sessions Chair. After retiring from public school, Mr. Kane has been an adjunct professor at 5 local colleges. His teaching now includes Choral Methods, Practicum in Music Ed, History of Jazz, Brass and Percussion Methods, Music Appreciation, and Trombone.

          He has adjudicated and/or guest-conducted regional and all-state honors choirs and bands, the All-City Choir of Cranston and The West Bay Choral. He is currently the Music Director of The University Glee Club of Providence. This summer, he conducted a European concert tour for the New England Ambassadors of Music. He is also a professional trombonist. He has played in ensembles throughout New York and New England that include The RI Phiharmonic, The American Band, and The Narragansett Brass Quintet (RIC Faculty Brass)

          He lives in Smithfield, RI with his wife Lila, a pianist, and three children, a college son and 2 high school daughters, all musicians.
