Irina Tchantceva, D.M.

Pianist and Music Educator Irina Tchantceva studied piano in former Soviet Union where she graduated from Yerevan Music College (B.A. with honors), Armenian State Conservatory (M.M. with honors) and received D.M. in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from Moscow State Conservatory.  She studied with Yuri Airapetian in Armenia and Vladimir Nathanson in Moscow.

For ten years Irina was on the faculty of Armenian State Conservatory in Yerevan where she was a Professor of Methodology of Piano Teaching and Art of Accompaniment. She was also a pianist for studio famed conductor Valery Gergiev as well as staff accompanist for the Vocal Department of the conservatory.

After arriving in the United States in 1991 she began work at the Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic where she is currently a co-chair of the Piano Department.  Irina is teaching piano at Providence College where she started as an accompanist for Choir and Concert Chorale.

Irina Tchantceva is a Music Director, Choir Director and Pianist at the Bell Street Chapel in Providence for the past fourteen years.  She is an Artistic Director of the "Bell Street Chapel Concert Series" for the past five years.

Irina is an active performer.  She collaborated with Alexey Shabalin, Maxim Kozlov, Anton Belov, Rene de la Garza, Clair Stadmueller, Alexei Romanenko, Ann Danis, Armen Movsessian, John Curran, Philip Martorella and many others.  She performed as a soloist, accompanist, member of piano duos and ensemble musician at the Music Mansion, Avery Piano Company, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence College, University of Rhode Island, Salve Regina University, Brown University, Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul, St. Pius V Church, Central Baptist Church, Central Congregational Church, Cathedral of St. John, Linden Place, Carey Mansion, Ochre Court, Blithewood Mansion, Egavian Cultural Center and numerous other venues throughout Rhode Island and New England.  Irina's concert with pianist Philip Martorella was broadcasted live on Classical 120.5 WCRB Boston.

Teaching piano is Irina's true passion.  She has many talented students of various ages and interests at the Music School, Providence College and her private studio.  Many of her students have won various piano competitions.  She is a member of Music Teachers National Association.
