Gabriel Alfieri, M. Mus., Vocal Pedagogy

Baritone Gabriel Alfieri holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance, summa cum laude, from Rhode Island College; and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Pedagogy, with highest academic honors, from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.  His teachers include Maria Spacagna and Richard Cassilly, and he has worked with vocal coaches Diane Richardson, Phyllis Curtin, Warren Jones, and John Moriarty.   

Mr. Alfieri has appeared as concert soloist with Boston’s Vox Consort, the Newport Baroque Orchestra, New Bedford Choral Society, Gordon College Chorus & Orchestra, South County Chamber Singers, and the NEC Chorus & Sinfonietta in Jordan Hall.  As a recital soloist, he has performed at the Newport Music Festival in Rhode Island, at Steinway Hall in New York City, on the Steinway-Haus International Recital Series in Vienna, Austria, and at various venues throughout southern New England and New York.  His theatrical credits in the Providence-Boston area include engagements with Trinity Repertory Company, Opera Providence, Alias Stage Theater, New England Light Opera, Opera by the Bay, and Boston Lyric Opera. 

He was twice awarded 1st prize at the Rhode Island NATS Song Fest and was chosen as a semi-finalist in the 1998 International Opera Singers’ Competition at New York's Center for Contemporary Opera.  Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Musicology at New England Conservatory, Mr. Alfieri's writings on vocal music have been published in Classical Singer magazine and in the NATS Journal of Singing.  He is a member of NATS and Pi Kappa Lambda.
