Audrey Cienniwa, B.Mus.

As a soloist and orchestral player, baroque cellist Audrey Cienniwa has performed in France , Belgium , Holland , Tunisia and in southern New England . She appeared recently at Symphony Hall in Boston and has performed with American ensembles as diverse as Pro Musica (Boston), Sine Nomine (Fall River), the Rhode Island Civic Orchestra and Newport Baroque Orchestra. She also performs regularly on concert series in the United States and Europe . Following a performance in August 2002, the French newspaper Le Dauphiné Liberé wrote that her playing was "prestigieux...magnifique...interprété magistralement...très beau." Audrey Cienniwa received diplomas from the conservatories at Nîmes and Lyon, and in 1995, she was unanimously selected to win first prize, with honors, in the Concours national de violoncelle (Lempdès , France ). After her training in modern cello, she studied the baroque cello with Hidemi Suzuki at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels . At the same time, she performed in student orchestral and chamber ensembles under Sigiswald Kuijken, Eric Van Nevel, Herman Stinders and Luis Otavio Santos. Audrey Cienniwa is currently on the faculties of Providence College , Moses Brown School (Providence ) and St. George’s School (Middletown , RI ).
