Renowned Philosopher to Deliver Annual Delasanta Lecture at Providence College
Providence, R.I. – Dr. Eleonore Stump, the Robert J. Henle professor of philosophy at Saint Louis University, will present Providence College’s annual Rodney Delasanta Honors Lecture on Thursday, March 27, at 4:30 p.m. in the Ruane Center for the Humanities’ Great Room on campus.

Providence College to Host Discussions on the Nature of Marriage
Providence, R.I. – Providence College today announced that the College will host two events addressing the nature of marriage during the spring semester. The first event, “Haters, Sinners, and the Rest of Us: The Gay Debate Today,” will take place on Thursday, April 24th at 4:30 p.m. in Slavin Center, ’64 Hall, on campus. Dr. John Corvino, chair of the Philosophy Department at Wayne State University in Detriot, Mich., and a nationally recognized proponent of same-sex marriage, will be the featured speaker. Dr. Dana Dillon, assistant professor of theology at PC, will provide the response to Dr. Corvino’s remarks.
The second event, “What is Marriage? Man and Woman: A Defense and Response,” will happen on Wednesday, April 30th at 4:30 p.m. in the Smith Center for the Arts, Angell Blackfriars Theater, on campus. It will feature Sherif Girgis, an Oxford Rhodes Scholar who is a supporter of traditional marriage. Mr. Girgis is a doctoral candidate at Princeton University and a law student at Yale Law School. Dr. Christopher Arroyo, associate professor of philosophy at PC, will provide the response to Mr. Girgis’ remarks.
