Hughes ’75, about their undergraduate days at Providence College. Her parents told her how they met at PC, how her father proposed to her mother in Aquinas Hall, and how her mother had her bridal shower in Aquinas.

Lives of Meaning and Purpose: Twins Max and Nick Widmer ’12 ‘Brought Joy’ to Endeavors

Lives of Meaning and Purpose: A Decade in the Making, Persistence brings Degrees to School of Continuing Education Students

AnaMarinWheelercombinedWEB.jpgProvidence, R.I. - A bachelor’s degree is an even greater accomplishment when it takes a decade to achieve. For Ashley Wheeler ’12SCE, the journey took almost 10 years. For Ana Marin ’12SCE, it was 12. The Providence College School of Continuing Education students both completed their studies while working full-time jobs — Wheeler in Providence, Marin in Boston. Marin did it while shepherding two children through high school and college. Both women were determined not only to obtain degrees, but to make sure those degrees were from PC.

Lives of Meaning and Purpose: A Helping Hand: Dedicated Peer Tutors Leave Lasting Imprint

Providence, R.I. - Time after time, they answered the call for help. When their fellow students needed extra help with a research paper, studying for an exam, or understanding a classroom lesson, peer tutors in the Office of Academic Services (OAS) and the Writing Center have steadfastly been there to encourage and bolster writing and study skills.

Lives of Meaning and Purpose: Providence College Senior Determined to Take Lessons, Leadership Home to Botswana

Lives of Meaning and Purpose: Horn, Kreczko Give Inner-City Youths a Voice 

chris-horn.jpgProvidence, R.I. - Thanks to Christopher Horn ’12 (West Simsbury, Conn.) and Benjamin Kreczko ’12 (Weatogue, Conn.), “Dru,” “Halo,” “Trey,” and “Adonis Da Don,” inner-city youths from Rhode Island, have found their voices as hip hop artists.

Providence College Seniors Share Top Honors

Two members of the Class of 2012 who followed very different scholarly paths are tied for highest academic honors at Providence College.

Wahl ’12 (West Warwick, R.I.), a theology and mathematics double major, and Emma Wright ’12 (Lake Hill, N.Y.), a history major with minors in French and German, will prepare an address to students that Wahl will deliver at the Academic Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 19. The two members of the Liberal Arts Honors Program have earned summa cum laude honors and received straight As, with a 4.0 grade point average, for their entire academic careers.

Award-Winning Actress and Rhode Island Native Viola Davis Will Deliver Providence College Commencement Address on Sunday, May 20, 2012

 viola.jpgProvidence, R.I. – Viola Davis, a critically revered actress of film, television and theater, will receive an honorary doctorate in fine arts and present the Commencement Address at Providence College’s Ninety-Fourth Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 20, 2012. The ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, 1 LaSalle Square, Providence, R.I.
