Health Care Leadership Forum: Tuesday March 19, 2013
The Health Policy and Management program is pleased to sponsor its second Health Care Leadership Forum, "The Path to EHR Implementation: Strategies for Success" on Tuesday, March 19th in the Smith Center for the Performing Arts from 5:30-8:00pm. Registration will begin at 5:30, and light appetizers will be served in the lobby before the program begins at 6:00pm in the Ryan Concert Hall.
This year, our featured speaker will be Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and Co-Founder of eClinicalWorks, one of the nation's leading providers of electronic medical records solutions. In 2009, Navani was named as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the area of Healthcare Technology in New England. His keynote address will explore past efforts to expand the utiilization of EMR systems, current challenges in implementing EMR after the 2009 ARRA, and future prospects for acheving "meaningful use" of HIT.
Following the keynote address, Navani will be joined by two local physicians for a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Robert Hackey, Director of the HPM program at PC. Dr. G. Allen Kurose, MD, and Dr. Herbert J. Brennan, DO, will offer a local perspective to the national debate over EMR adoption and meaningful use. Panelists will explore the hands on challenges in using health information technologies to improve the quality of care, control costs, and transform clinical processes.
