The Feinstein Institute for Public Service is comprised of faculty, staff, students, alumni and community partners who engage in thoughtful reflection and conversation with the shared goal of working toward strengthening local communities. All of these people work closely together to ensure quality service experiences and valuable benefits for community efforts.
Service Learning Coordinator

Cultivates and maintains relationships between Community Partners and the Feinstein Institute.

Develops service placements appropriate for particular courses.

Community Partners
- Develop quality service placements that meet the needs of both the Institute and the students.
- Ensure that students fulfill an important role in the organization and gain an in-depth comprehension of the surrounding community.
- Focus the service experience to allow for maximum benefit to the entire community.
- Develop an understanding of the academic experience including participating in classroom activities.
Faculty
- Integrate the unique service experience of the students into Public and Community Service Studies classes.
- Establish clear communication with the Community Assistants, Community Partners and Service Learning Coordinator.
Community Assistants
- Gain in-depth knowledge of a community organization and its surrounding community and provide an orientation for service learners.
- Serve both as effective leaders for the community service students and in integral capacities within the community organizations.
- Engage in ongoing reflection and development throughout the service experience.
Service Learners

Volunteer at community organizations on a weekly basis under the guidance of a Community Assistant.

Incorporate their service experiences into their academic coursework, often using service as an additional "text" for the course.
