Scholarships for Service (SFS) is an AmeriCorps Education Award Only program that engages college students committed to service who serve a minimum of 300 hours in exchange for a $1000 Education Award. SFS is administered by Rhode Island Campus Compact, through generous financial support from the RI Service Alliance, and involves institutions of higher education throughout the state, including Providence College. Member campuses in Rhode Island have a deep commitment to the value of service in education and to fulfilling their public trust by graduating people who are active participants in civic life. SFS runs both an Academic Year term and Summer term during the year where college students can serve their local community and annually recruits approximately 70-100 college students into service.

Students interested in committing to this level of service can contact Colleen Rost-Banik, Service Learning Coordinator, for more information.

"Think about it, if service was easy then everybody would be doing it.  But it is not.  It is a commitment of time, energy, and comfort.  Service allows you to step out of your comfort zone and do something constructive for someone else."   -Stacy Bronec ‘09
