Fr. Cuddy, 33, a native of Braintree, MA, graduated from Providence College in 1998, having majored in marketing. He spent the next year with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (AmeriCorps*NCCC), serving out of Charleston, SC, with extended service trips to NC, GA, FL, and TN. He spent the following year with the Boston Archdiocese as a youth minister on the streets of South Boston. Entering the Dominican Province of St. Joseph in 2000, he was ordained a priest in 2007. He finished his theological studies in 2008 and then spent a year in parochial ministry with the Dominican Friars in Louisville, KY, before returning to his Alma Mater this past summer to serve as Chaplain of the College.
Fr. Legge, 38, is a native of the Seattle, WA, and graduated from Claremont McKenna College, Claremont, CA, in 1993, having studied Government and Economics. He moved on to Yale University in New Haven, CT,, where he met the Dominican Friars and received a Juris Doctor degree in 1996. He then clerked for a year for a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Portland, OR, followed by three years in the Constitutional Torts Section of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, DC. He entered the Dominicans in 2001 and was ordained a priest in 2007. Following another year of theological studies, he was assigned to Providence College to teach Theology in 2008.
These two young Dominicans, from different parts of the country, with varied backgrounds and experiences, were ordained priests on the same day and in the same ceremony. Both are now at Providence College. In the October 26th noontime luncheon presentation, they will describe their experiences and narrate the paths that brought them to priesthood.
