Minor in Writing

For students wishing to concentrate on polishing their writing skills both by the practice of expository writing/editing and by examining good literary models, the following eighteen hours/six courses are recommended as constituting a Minor in Writing:

a.  Twelve hours/four courses from the following:

ENG 161  Introduction to Journalism
ENG 175  Introduction to Literature
ENG 204  Literary Journalism
ENG 301  Intermediate Writing
ENG 380  Creative Writing: Fiction
ENG 381  Creative Writing: Poetry
ENG 385  Advanced Writing
TDF 405  Principles of Playwriting
ART 108  Introduction to Desktop Publishing

b.  Six hours/two courses in English literature and language chosen from the following:

Courses in literature of level 200 or above
Courses in language, including:

LIN 201   Introduction to Linguistics I
LIN 202   Introduction to Linguistics II
