Beyond the Classroom

Elementary/special education majors can complement their academic studies through involvement in both co-curricular clubs and honor societies. Members of the Education Club share their love for learning and enrich the lives of children and their own professional development as volunteer tutors in local schools and community centers. For education majors interested in working with special needs students, PC’s chapter of The Council for Exceptional Children works to increase campus awareness and promotes the understanding of people with disabilities.

Two honor societies recognize students who achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25. Alpha Upsilon Alpha is the honor society of the International Reading Association for students who have taken at least one literacy course. Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society for students in elementary/special education, music education, or secondary education.
