For many types of professional engineers, obtaining a license to practice engineering is critical. In general, the licensing process consists of two exams. Students who choose the three-two program will be eligible for the first exam in the second semester of their senior year. Students who choose the track leading to an M.S. in engineering (without a B.S.) will not be able to take the first exam for five to six years after completion of the M.S. degree. The second exam is taken approximately five years after completion of the first exam.
