Academic Convocation
At the beginning of each academic year, Providence College welcomes the new academic community to campus with a formal Academic Convocation. The program, which is preceded by a formal academic procession, usually features a principal address by a noted speaker; the presentation of the Joseph R. Accinno Faculty Teaching Award; and introductions of newly promoted and tenured faculty members. The campus community is invited to this event.

Commencement Weekend
Held on the second or third weekend each May, Commencement Weekend is the celebratory culmination of the academic year. The celebration is comprised of the ROTC Commissioning and on Friday; the Baccalaureate Awards Ceremony, the Commencement Mass and Parents’ Reception on Saturday; and the Commencement Exercises on Sunday. With the exception of the Commencement Exercises, which take place at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Downtown Providence, weekend events are held on campus.

Freshman Family Weekend
This annual fall event allows the parents and siblings of PC students to enjoy the campus when it is in full swing. Parents sit in on a Friday class, meet members of the faculty, attend a musical or dance performance, cheer on Friar teams, attend Sunday Mass and brunch, and mingle with their son or daughter’s new friends.

Homecoming Weekend
Each winter, the College invites all alumni back to the campus for a weekend of alumni gatherings, Friar sporting events, an alumni Mass and brunch, and other activities of interest.

Reunion Weekend
Each spring, the Providence College National Alumni Association welcomes all graduates commemorating a fifth-year reunion back to campus for the College’s traditional Reunion Weekend. The College sponsors special gatherings for each graduating class attending including an outdoor reunion barbecue, a semi-formal campus dinner-dance, and a reunion Mass and brunch.

Upperclassmen Family Weekend
This annual winter weekend for the parents and siblings of sophomores, juniors, and seniors usually kicks off with a Friday night social. Additional weekend activities for families range from social receptions to athletic contests, concelebrated Masses, a talk by a faculty member, and opportunities to explore the city of Providence.
