The College begins participation in the Federal Government's College Work-Study Program.

For the 1st time, a layperson assumes a PC Vice Presidency.

Administration Committee approves the establishment of the Committee on Academic Rank and Tenure.

Beginning of the first Freshman Parents' Weekend.

College holds first Ring Weekend festivities during which class rings are given to juniors.

Committee on Studies approves establishment of formal Junior Year Abroad Program.

College announces appointment of the first laymen to the Departments of Religious Studies and Philosopohy.

First woman appointed to full-time undergraduate faculty.

First Faculty Senate meeting held.

Committee on Administration approves the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund, with monies raised through pledges from the faculty and staff.

Corporation approves the Faculty Senate Resolution providing for elections of Department Chairmen.

First Athletic Hall of Fame induction.

Club 21 opens in Alumni Hall providing an informal meeting place for students, faculty, alumni and administrators over 21 years old.

Vietnam Student Strike begins, with classes cancelled for a day of "Mourning and Prayer for Peace."

The College makes the decision to admit women to the undergraduate day school.

PC inaugurates Summer Art and Art History Study Program in Pietrasanta, Italy.

The College's first female administrator joins the staff.
