Teaching Philosophy
A rich learning environment should afford students the opportunity to explore complex ideas and tools that they can build upon in their future academic pursuits and continue to use in their professional and personal lives. The students in my courses are future businesswomen and men, health care professionals, teachers, lawyers, scientists, politicians and others who will shape our future. It is essential to provide those students with a combination of theoretical foundations and real life situational experiences. Therefore, participation is a way of life in my courses. This is accomplished by creating learning environments where students, working individually and in teams, are actively engaged in their learning through case studies, simulations, negotiations, role-plays, field investigations and scholarly research.
Research & Interests
My research bridges many fields. Research activities focus on: organizational development and change in both academic and corporate settings; pedagogy and technology; faculty development practices; and collaborative learning. Research in teaching and learning is concerned with programs and initiatives that improve learning environments.
