  • Corporation election of Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P., as the 12th President of Providence College.
  • Providence College's Women's Rugby Club wins the U.S. championship, capping a 13-0-0 season.  The championship is the first women's national club championship in any sport in College history.
  • The College establishes the Office of Mission and Ministry and appoints Rev. Joseph J. Guido, O.P. as the office's first Vice President.
  • Rev. Thomas D. McGonigle, O.P., is appointed the first director of the College's new Center for Catholic and Dominican Studies. 
  • Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. is inaugurated as Providence College's 12th president during a two-day celebration.
  • College shifts resources from merit-based to need-based financial aid
  • $7.64 million bequest from Philip J. Whitcome, Ph.D. `70 is largest scholarship gift to PC
