Phase I of the renovation of Phillips Memorial Library continues in earnest, with the majority of the work to date taking place on the library's main level. Modifications to all three levels of the library will accommodate the increasing desire for students to gather informally for research, discussion, and group study.

Twenty-five group study rooms of varying sizes will be created and a lounge on the upper level will provide students with a greater variety of study space.

In addition to creating a second electronic classroom, plans are under way to expand student seating from 667 to 865 seats. Over a 20-year period, the book collection is expected to grow to a capacity of approximately 415,000 books.
