Community Service
Are you interested in volunteering in a community that values diversity but just don't know how to take the first step? Each year, the Balfour Center for Multicultural Affairs conducts a number of programs which allow Providence College student to volunteer to serve in a number of locations across the campus and community. For example you could get involved with the

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Week Celebration
Every January activities are held to honor and celebrate the life, legacy, and teachings of Dr. King. The national King Day of Service was created in 1994 through federal legislation co-authored by former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Harris Wofford and Georgia Congressman John Lewis, both veterans of the Civil Rights movement with Dr. King. The act called for the transformation of the King federal holiday from simply a "day off" into a "day on" of active citizenship and service. The King Day of Service is a tangible way to transform Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and teachings into community service and social justice projects.

Unity Week
Unity Week, an annual event held in October, is coordinated by the BCMA and other departments, offices and student organizations. It provides an opportunity for the College community to celebrate the various cultures on campus. Ethnic festivals, forums or discussions, community service activities, seminars and artistic performances are held during the week.

Multicultural Scholarship Program
The Multicultural Scholarship Program at Providence College is an academic, co-curricular program designed to support the recipients of selected multicultural scholarships.  Four-year scholarships are provided to approximately 25 students annually. The scholarship serves those individuals who have high financial need and a commitment to diversity and service.  Recipients participate in ongoing community service activities or projects.
