This page and the ones shown on the right hand side column are filled with information about alternative financing options. Hopefully, these pages will offer you an overview of the most commonly used financing options and help you compare and choose an alternative financing option that will best suit your needs.
There is no one “right” way to finance your education and ultimately the financing option you choose is up to you and your family since the appeal and benefit of the many alternative options will be influenced by your individual family financial circumstances, comfort level and need. Also, keep in mind that you are financing on a yearly basis (both Fall and Spring semesters) and whatever option you choose this year can be changed in future years if you are unhappy with the initial product you selected or your needs change from one year to the next.
Before you do any research about a specific product, you will need to have an idea of the amount you would like to finance since that may influence which product you choose. If you are not sure how much you need to borrow, please visit our Estimating Your Bill section (located within the Tuition and Fees section on the left) to help estimate an amount. We strongly encourage you to visit this section before beginning any of your product research.
Our hope is once you have finished visiting these pages, you will be able to select a product that is right for you and you will have all of your important questions answered about the product selected such as what the interest rate on the product will be, when you go into repayment and how much it will cost you and/or your family per month.
Please keep in mind that there are many lenders that offer competitive loans some with lower interest rates, no up front fees, etc. There are numerous lenders and since we do not have information available on all products it is not the practice of the College to make recommendations to our families about any specific lenders and/or products. However, we are here to help you the best we can to understand the differences in product types available to you. Please feel free to contact us anytime at finaid@providence.edu or at 401-865-2286 if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
