What we do
The Publications Center has a dual focus: it provides campus news and information as well as communications and marketing support for College departments and programs.
Two print publications and one weekly, Web-based communication keep the Providence College community and external audiences educated and informed of campus news and developments.
Providence College Magazine, the College's premiere print publication, is published quarterly for alumni, parents, and friends of PC. The magazine incorporates news, feature, and reflective elements in multiple topical and constituent areas, including academics, athletics, development, alumni news and relations, and service outreach.
Spectrum, published monthly during the academic year, is the on-campus newspaper for faculty and staff. This publication communicates College news and policies, the deeds and accomplishments of faculty and staff, and campus happenings and events.
PC Now, located on the College's Web homepage, is the "one-stop" source for PC news. This Web news page is updated weekly - or more frequently as breaking news warrants - during the fall and spring semesters and periodically during academic-year breaks and the summer. It includes the latest College news; news and profiles involving alumni, students, and faculty; and campus and athletic events.
The Publications Center supports the communications and marketing needs of College departments, offices, and programs by helping them develop publications to meet their objectives. We provide editorial and creative services including concept development, graphic design, proofreading, layout, and bid management for projects ranging from College catalogs and course bulletins to institutional advertising.
To achieve informational, editorial, and graphic accuracy and consistency, Providence College has developed for all its publications, print and electronic, and for the use of the greater College community an Information Resource Guide (IRG). The IRG is comprised of the Web-based, information-oriented College Descriptors Compendium and the hard-copy Editorial Standards Manual and the Graphic Standards Manual. The Publications Center is charged with implementing these resources.
