Digital Services Lab

Hours: Sun: 5pm to 10pm; Mon: 9:30am to 6pm; Tue-Thur: 9:30am to 10 pm; Fri: 8:30am to 4:30pm; Closed Sat.

Come visit us for all your scanning and digitizing needs! The Digital Services Lab is Phillips Memorial Library’s resource for patron and library digitization projects, as well as the Digital Commons. The Lab features Macintosh computers, several different types of scanners, and other technology resources, as well as staff available for training and technical support. Digital Services Lab is also available to support the Creation Station/Macintosh Lab, as well as Self-Serve Scanning Stations throughout the library.

Lab Resources

Macintosh Computers

  • 24-inch iMac and 20-inch iMac running Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard)

Scanners

  • Epson flatbed scanners for scanning letter sized originals as well as slides or 35 mm film negatives
  • Microtek flatbed scanners with 12" x 17" scanning area for large format scanning, as well as slide scanning, and various non-standard negative sizes
  • Epson V700 Photo scanner, for scanning slides, film and negatives
  • ATIZ BookDrive Cradle Scanner, for scanning complete books or fragile documents

Software

  • Adobe Creative Suite 3 (including Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3, InDesign CS3, Dreamweaver CS3, and Acrobat Professional) featured in both the Creation Station/ Macintosh Lab and the Digital Services Lab
  • ABBYY Fine Reader OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software
  • Microsoft Office 2008
