Upperclass Family Weekend

February 5-7, 2010

Our annual weekend promises to offer something for families of sophomores, juniors, and seniors to enjoy!  Be sure to mark your calendar and plan to spend the weekend with your student to reaquaint yourself with all that Providence College has to offer.

Further details will be posted on this site when available.  Invitations and reservation forms will be sent to families during the first week in January, 2010.  At that time, online registration will be open for your convenience.

The Parents for Providence Association welcomes you to campus!  Stop by for refreshments and to speak with Parents Leadership Council members who share ways to get more involved in the PC parent family.

Waiting for Lefty by Clifford Odets

In this Clifford Odets' play, set during the Depression, a group of taxi drivers debate a labor strike while they wait for their most respected member, Lefty to arrive.  A sharply political play,Waiting for Lefty, is written as a series of seven related vignettes. The social commentary in the vignettes is powerful, focusing on religion, class, and especially politics throughout.

The Tony Award winning musical that has captured the hearts of people all over the world with its universal appeal, embarks on its National Tour. Audiences will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the original Tevye, Chaim Topol, perform the role that made him legendary.

This event is so popular we just keep bringing it back! You won't want to miss a step of the fun and frolic of  live Irish music, and our own Irish Dance Club. This is a really great show to kick-off this fun-filled weekend!

Learn more about the programs and resources  available to your student for exploring majors and careers .  From networking, shadowing, and internship opportunities, the Office of Career Services has a complete program designed to support key career development services that can give your student a real advantage.  Don't miss the opportunity to hear, firsthand, about the College's newly developed Executive Mentor Program, which provides juniors and seniors with a unique one-on-one mentoring relationship with key business leaders in the state.

There are countless community service and service-learning opportunities for students at Providence College. Through service, students develop their knowledge and skills, build relationships with community members, and participate in positive social and economic change. The session will explore the skills that students can develop as they engage in service as well as the opportunities for post-grad service programs.

Historic Guided Bus Tour of Providence
Departs from Huxley Gate concourse
Explore historic Providence aboard a luxury motor coach with guides from Preserve Rhode Island. Experience the city's rich heritage on this two-hour bus tour from the site of the original settlement to an area that includes the country's largest collection of 18th- and 19th-century architecture.

The Jew, the Murderer, and a Boy from Kansas: The New Face of Holiness
Center for Catholic and Dominican Studies
Although many people think of saints as other worldly figures from another time, Rev. Joseph Guido, O.P., Vice President, Mission and Ministry,illlustrates how three 20th century saints challenge this assumption. In doing so, they invite us to consider the unlikely prospect that we too could become saints - not by leaving this world but by finding God in its midst.
