The Recruitment Program...It will Benefit You!

Interested Employers
Each year a number of employers visit PC to interview motivated seniors from all majors. Additionally, other employers collect resumes through the on-campus interview process, but conduct interviews over the phone or at their offices.

Apply Online Through eFriars - It's Easy!
All information on employers and their job opportunities are found in eFriars. Register or re-register in
eFriars to begin your search. New users can call x2305 to receive the token password.

Reality Testing
If your resume does not get selected for interviews, analyze why. You may need to improve your resume, fix the objective on the resume, or redirect your efforts to a different kind of employer or to job opportunities more suitable to your interests and qualifications at this point in time. This kind of reality testing will greatly improve your independent job search.

Job Interviewing Skills
On-campus recruiting exposes you to the realities of job interviewing and offers you the opportunity to improve your job presentation skills by clarifying your goals and/or selling points. You will also learn the importance of employer research, motivation, professionalism, and closing interviews.

Job Offers
Many seniors receive job offers through the on-campus recruitment Program.

Note: There are Limitations. Not all career interests are represented in on-campus recruitment. Employers in many fields do not use on-campus recruitment as their hiring method.

How to Apply

You Will Need the eFriars Job Description
The Job Description in eFriars contains all application instructions. Please read it. To access Job Descriptions see “How to Participate” above.

Resume
You will need a resume. Your resume can be without an objective or with an objective that fits the job you are applying for. At times, the best objective is simply the Job Title.

Additional Application Materials are Sometimes Required
Some employers want more than a resume. For instance, they may require a Cover Letter and/or a Transcript.
Follow the Application Instructions in the eFrairs Job Description.

Most of the Time You Will  Be Directed to Apply Online
To do so you must: (1) Have your resume (and any other required materials) uploaded into the Documents section of eFriars. (2) Be in the Job description in eFriars and follow the simple directions on how to retrieve your resume and apply.

Sometimes You May be Directed to Apply Off-Line
In this instance, you may apply either directly to the employer or via an employer's website. In rare cases you may be asked to submit a paper copy of your resume to The Office of Career Services in Slavin 111.

Transcripts
To upload a transcript you must first open your BannerWeb account.

  • Highlight the whole transcript and copy it.

  • Upload the transcript file to eFriars as you would any other document.
The Interview Process

Resume Review And Selection
The employers review the resumes they receive, and select the candidates they believe best match their needs.
You are then informed of the employer’s decision and, if selected, you must sign up for a specific interview time as soon as possible. If you wish to decline an interview, call Mrs. Ricci right away at 401-865-2305.

How to Sign Up for an Interview
Sign Up Quickly! If you are selected for an interview, you will need to sign up as soon as possible for a specific interview time.

Instructions on how to sign up will be included with the notice that you have been selected for an interview.

How to Decline an Interview

  • You can “publish” your resume to multiple resume books.
Your Ethical Obligations as a Program Participant

You Need To Have Some Interest In The Jobs You Apply For
A low level of interest may develop into a strong interest. But you should not be taking interviews “for practice” (and in effect denying the interview to a more motivated senior).

You Need To Prepare Professionally For Interviews
This means doing your homework on yourself and on the employer. You need to think through your match to the job and your selling points. You must research the employer and figure out what attracts you to that specific employer.

You Need To Dress And Groom Professionally For Interviews

You Must Show Up For An Interview, Or Call The Office of Career Services To Cancel In Advance
Cancel as far in advance as possible, so we can find another senior for your interview time.
Last minute cancellations may result in the employer not returning to campus in the future.

You Need To Treat Employers Courteously
Shake their hand when you first greet them as well as at the end of the interview. Be sure to also thank them at the end of the interview and send a thank you note.

If You Accept A Job Offer, You Must Stop Taking On-Campus Interviews

Backing Out Of An Offer
Strongly NOT advised! If you have accepted an offer and must rescind your acceptance you need to do so professionally. This would require a consultation with a Career Advisor.

Problems
If you have a problem or concern with an employer or a specific interviewer you need to communicate your concerns to Linda Ernst.
