February 4, 2008  1:00-2:30pm - FC 304 - It's a Family Affair Presented by Dr. Wanda Igram, Senior Associate Dean and Jacqueline Kiernan Mackay, Assoc. Dean/Dir. Parent Programs This session will be a dialogue about why dynamics inside and outside of the classroom with students has changed, with a brief overview of college student development, the importance of Providence College's new parent program, legal issues, and consumerism/customer service mentality that colleges face nationwide.

Midsemester Assessment Program Presented by: Laurie Grupp and MAPs Evaluators Wednesday, February 13  1:00 - 2:00 and Thursday, February 14 1:00 - 2:00 One of the most important services provided by the CTE is the midsemester assessment program. Learn how the process works, why it is important, and how you can become a MAPs evaluator.

September 20, 2007,  4:00-5:30pm - FC 304 - Conversation with the Teacher of the Year
Dr. Margaret Manchester, Assistant Professor of History 
Each year the CTE celebrates the accomplishments of the Joseph R. Accinno Teacher of the Year. Dr. Margaret Manchester will share her insights on the teaching and learning process. This will be an interactive “conversation” and promises to be an enjoyable kickoff event for the fall semester.

October 9, 2007,  4:00-5:30pm - FC 304 - Advising as Teaching: New Ways to View the Advising Process Presented by Dr. Joseph Cammarano, Dr. Carol Crafts, Dr. Laurie Grupp, and the audience
This will be a fun, interactive discussion about the challenges and responsibilities related to academic advising. We will explore new ways of thinking about advising, moving from advisor as bookkeeper or counselor to advisor as teacher.

October 18, 2007,  2:00-4:00pm - FC 304 - Publish or Perish:  "Navigating the Challenges of Publishing in the Digital Era"Presented by representatives from three of the world’s foremost academic and professional publishers to learn about and discuss the most current developments in the publication process.

October 24, 2007,  4:00-5:30pm - FC 304 - Get Writing: Using Blogs to Develop Students’ Voices   Presented by Siobhán Ross, Instructional Technology Development Program
In this talk we will explore how faculty are using blogs to encourage students to write for a larger audience, interact with classmates’ writing, and develop their voices as authors regardless of topic or discipline. We will also look at example assignments and discuss how to get started using blogs in your course.

November 13, 2007,  5:00pm - Invited Guest Scholar: Dr. Michael J. Naughton
"Catholic Social Thought, Curriculum Integration and the Mission of Providence College"
Dr. Michael J. Naughton will lead a discussion on the role of Catholic social thought in fostering greater integration within the curriculum, especially between liberal arts and professional education. This form of curriculum integration serves as one important way of connecting the curriculum to the mission of Providence College.

November 28, 2007,  1:00pm - Audio Conference: Plagiarism 101
"Keys to Preventing Academic Misconduct" With students plagiarizing both on and off line, what do college faculty and staff need to know to recognize and prevent different forms of plagiarism?  This live 60 minute audio conference will be presented by Dr. Dennis Gregory, Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
