Summer Travel Plans 2009:F-1 Visa Holders

International students (F-1 Visa holders) who intend to travel outside the United States or return to their home country over the summer are required to have their I-20 form signed by a designated Providence College official.  Please see Katherine Jacobs at the Center for International Studies (Harkins 336) for that signature and discussion of your plans.

In your travel outside the United States, please be certain to carry with you the following documents:

  • Passport/Visa with Signed I-20
  • I-901 Fee Payment Receipt

For J Visa Holders:    

  • Passport/Visa
  • DS 2019 with blue ink   
  • I-901 Fee Payment Receipt

Optional Practical Training (OPT):

If you would like to apply for work authorization (EAD) after graduation, please make an appointment to see Katherine Jacobs to get application information.  Please bring the OPT Preliminary Information Form with you!  You may apply for your OPT up to 90 days before your graduation date.  It can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 4 months to get your EAD card....apply early!
