The Minor

The minor in Black Studies includes one required course and five additional elective courses chosen from program and departmental electives. The program also offers the opportunity for independent readings and research—with the support of a faculty sponsor—for minors whose interests are not directly addressed in formal course offerings.

How to Declare a Minor

  1. Student speaks with Director. The student should make an appointment with the
    Director of Black Studies.
  1. Student completes the Declare a Minor Form.pdf Once the student decides to declare a minor, they must complete the Declaration of Minor Form and obtain the signature of the Director. The original copy must be brought to Enrollment Service, Harkins Hall Room 310, where it will be maintained in the student's file. It is suggested that the student also keep a copy for their own records.

For a listing of course descriptions and degree requirements, please see the course catalog.
