The formal, college-wide assessment program began in 1999, with the appointment of a special assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the establishment of the Committee on Assessment Issues & Resources, and Jim & Karen Nichols’ assessment consulting visit.  Since 1999, the College has staged the introduction of assessment according to the following timeline:

  • 1998/99, 1999/00 …: Academic Majors
  • 2000/01 …: Administrative/Educational Support Units
  • 2002/03 …: Academic Minors
  • 2003/04 …: Core Curriculum (on hold due to current curriculum review )

The College's assessment program is conducted under the direction of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. 

 


Organizational Infrastructure

  • Division: Academic Affairs
  • Staff: Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA)
  • Committee: Committee on Assessment Issues & Resources: 11 members; meets regularly to advise the AVPAA on assessment activities
  • Reach: All campus departments and programs (annual assessment reports required)
  • Budget: $92,400 (for campus-wide initiatives and departmental/program support; departmental/program initiatives undertaken independently are not included)
  • Primary Supporting Units: Institutional Research; Enrollment Services
  • Technology: TracDat from Nuventive is used to track assessment data; Zoomerang and Angel (PC's course management software) are used to mount online surveys; iWebfolio from Nuventive is used to create electronic portfolios; AGB Benchmarking, Tableau visual analysis software and a variety of other tools are used to access and/or report institutional data
