Career Path: Conte received his MD degree from Georgetown University in 1986, and served his residency in General Surgery at Georgetown from 1986-1992. From 1992-1995, he completed a residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University.
Dr. Conte served as assistant professor at the University of Maryland Medical Center for three years, before becoming associate professor of surgery and Director of Heart and Lung Transplantation in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.
A member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Network, Dr. Conte's clinical interests include adult cardiac surgery, cardiac and pulmonary transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. His research interests include gene therapy in organ transplantation, immunosuppression, and organ preservation.
