Career Path Highlights: Christie joined the U.S. Marine Corps (PLC Program) while at PC and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. at graduation. He served on active duty from 1961 to 1965, commuting during his last two years from the Quantico Marine base to night law school at American University's Washington College of Law to pursue law, as he was involved in court martial work. Upon being discharged, rather than enter the field of law, he started an insurance business on Long Island. He founded two firms, William J. Christie Associates, Inc., a life, health and and financial services firm, and W. J Christie International Planning Corp., a registered investment advisor, registered with the SEC and NY State, and still serves as president & CEO of both. A registered insurance consultant in the state of NY, he achieved the designations of CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., a demanding, multi-year course curriculum.
A member of the Order of Malta, a Catholic Church lay Order which serves the poor and sick worldwide, his most recent volunteer efforts involved helping renovate a Catholic Church for migrant worker families in central Florida. He and his wife volunteered their time after Hurricane Katrina to rehabilitate damaged homes in the poorer areas of New Orleans. They also volunteer at a soup kitchen in Vero Beach, Fla.
Christie is a past president and past 25-year board member of The Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, N.Y. He also served as a regional board member of The Bank of New York for many years.

He was honored in 1991 by the Metropolitan Club of New York with its Personal Achievement Award. Appointed to the College's Board of Trustees in 2002, he serves on the Building and Property Committee and on the Investment Committee. An endowed scholarship--the William and Maryann Christie Scholarship Fund--was established by the Christie family in 2002 to provide much-needed financial aid to qualified students.
Transforming Quote: "The Dominican values of prayer, community, and service have become my own personal priorities over the years, by creating a God-centered marriage, raising five wonderful children whose Catholic faith animates their daily lives, and by trying to remain open to Christ's call to serve the poor, sick, and less fortunate in our world."
