Career Path: Upon graduating from PC, Burke attended Harvard University Law School. In 1987, he became the Assistant General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks, and later the President and General Manager of the Hartford Whalers. In 1993, Burke became the Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League. He served as the President and General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks from 1998-2004, where he was named Sporting News "NHL Executive of the Year" in 2001. In 2005, Burke was named executive vice president and general manager of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Then in 2008, Burke was appointed president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Staying Involved: Burke remains an active member of the Providence College community through the Athletic Department and the Friends of Friar Hockey Program.
