Weddings at St. Dominic Chapel

Greetings from the Chaplain

Photography by John W. CorbettCongratulations on your engagement and your decision to make a lifelong commitment to each other in the sacred vocation of marriage.  In celebrating the sacrament of marriage before God, and your family and friends you are publically declaring an unselfish love for each other which is a sign of an open and full relationship.  With God's grace, the new family created with the exchange of your vows will become your chosen path to holiness.

With these things in mind, you have many decisions to make.  Besides selecting a location for the wedding ceremony and reception, choosing a bridal party and making your guest list, you have a wonderful opportunity to communicate and share your goals and hopes on important values that will help shape your marriage.  The way you communicate now will become the model for future discussions on significant issues like your relationship with each other and the example you will set for your children.  During the period of your engagement, we encourage you to pray for your future spouse and develop a spirit of mutual trust, respect and sensitivity towards him or her.

This policy is designed to help you plan your wedding as well as make you aware of what will be expected of you if you chose to be married at St. Dominic Chapel.  Please read it carefully knowing that we will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Remember, your wedding day is meant to be a manifestation of your faith in God and the consecration of your life to each other through a grace filled, sacred ceremony.  We are pleased that you are considering celebrating the sacrament of marriage at Providence College's St. Dominic Chapel.  May the Lord bless you both.
